Getting old, will have the knee join pain when joggin, spoken to a friend during cny visit, and talk about some supplement such as Glucosamine..from US this online company called Now..the wedsite is nowfoods.com, the suppliment contain Glucosamine, Chondroitin with MSM..what is MSM? from wikie, MSM = Methylsulfonylmethane , did mentioned there are some research done where the knee pain really improved with MSM...will need to try out see it improve my knee pain...

saw an ads in the star by Live-Well, the number to call is 03-6142 6570. For knee pain, the contain is Glucosamine + Chondroitin.

As compare to the nowfoods, they got extra MSM. Now at least 2 manufacture also have both the Glucosamine + Chondroitin. What it is?

Glucosamine - from wiki, it said it is a amino sugar actually. it naturally present in the shells of shellfish, animal bones and bone marrow.

Supplemental glucosamine may help to prevent cartilage degeneration and treat arthritis.
I think it apply to anything, as long as it is within the limit, it is fine. Hence overdoeses of Glucosamine could impact the pancrease and could lead to dieabetes, of course it is amino sugar.

Now what is this Chondoitin? it is also a sugar and it is an important element for Carliage - the soft tissue connecting the bones.

In year 2010, the hungry ghost month would begin on the 10th of August and end on the 7th of September. During this month the gate of hell is open so the spirit and soul are free to roam our world.

01) One should not pee on a tree because it may offend the spirits that resides there.

02) It was said that young people should not wander around too late into the night during the ghost festival for fear that spirits would follow the individual home.

03) It is bad luck to kick or disturb offering to the hungry ghost such as joss stick, candle and food offerings. All these item are mean for appeasing the spirits and ghost.

04) It is also inauspicious for couple to get married during the hungry ghost month.

05) During the month, Chinese Operas would be stage to perform and entertain the spirits and soul during the hungry ghost festival. Usually the front row of seats are reserve for the spirits so it is not advisable to seat on it especially during the first day of the festival. It is said that one may get prosess if the individuals luck is low.

06) It would be best to avoid swimming during this month as victims death by drowning may cause the individual to drown. Some has experience their leg been drag/pull into the water.

07) During this month it is not auspicious to visit a sick person in the hospital, attend an funeral, moving house and starting a new business.

08) Avoid talking about ghost during this month as it may offend wandering spirits.

09) Wearing black clothing are consider inauspicious during this time of the year too. So is red if I am not mistaken.

10) It is advisable not to have the main door of a premise open all night long. This apparently will invite negative energy into the house.

11) Leaving an umbrella open outside the house in the night is also considered a no no as spirits may take shelter under them.

12) Bringing an umbrella into the house after it was used in the night is also not advisable. It is said that one may bring/carry in spirits to the house.

New Scam Tactic, be alert !

Any cheque banked in into your account need a few days to transact. Although the amount appears in your account, but it's still pending for transaction, the person issue the cheque can cancel the

cheque at any time!

A few days ago, one of my friends received a sms with the message:

"You've strike 1st prize with a prize money of RMB200,000 cash." The sms came with a contact no. My friend ignored it since he had heard of too many bogus scams using similar tactics.

After a short while his handphone rang, a Miss Fang asked:

"Sir have you received a sms telling you that you've strike 1st prize?"

My friend answered: "Yes, I have"

Miss Fang: "Please let us have your bank account number so that we can deposit the money into your account."

My friend thought, why not, let's see what you can do. My friend has a buddy who works in that bank. Hence, he gave her his account number.

Ten minutes later, my friend's handphone started ringing again.

Miss Fang said: "Sir, we have deposited your prize money into your account, please check and verify."

My friend checked using his handphone and found that RMB200,000 was really deposited into his account. He was euphoric, just like that and he's RMB200,000 richer!

30 minutes later, Miss Fang called again.

She was crying: "I'm sorry sir, I made a mistake, I forgot to deduct the tax before I deposited the prize money, 20% of RMB 200,000 equals to RMB40,000. Now the company wants me to reimburse the money.

Can you please return the RMB40,000 tax? I beg you."

My friend thought for a while and felt pity for the lady. Thinking of the money in his bank account, he went to the bank.

Suddenly he thought of his buddy working in that bank and decided to ask his buddy to double check and confirm for him first.

Upon checking, his buddy found out that the money was deposited using a cheque of a different bank.

Even though the cheque was deposited but the actual amount of money can't be transfered into his account on the same day. If the other party decided to cancel the cheque, then he'll not get this RMB200,000.

My friend was shocked. He almost lost RMB40,000.

Before my friend left for home on that day, the cheque was actually cancelled. If not for his buddy, if not for him being a professional, or if he was cared of letting others know of striking the prize then this bogus scam

would be successful. This is a true story, please beware.

Future scams could be even better planned. Please don't forget to forward to your friends and relatives to warn them from being cheated.

However, rice, like wheat and corn, cannot be eaten raw. It must be cooked. Even if you were starving in the desert, you cannot eat rice in the raw form.. This is because we do not have the system of enzymes to break rice down. You were never meant to eat rice. To make matters worse, you not only eat rice, but also make it the bulk of your food.

, rice forms up to 85% of the plate. Even if you take rice, keep it to a minimum. Remember, it is only for your tongue - not your body. Actually, rice and other grains like wheat and corn are actually worse than sugar. There are many reasons:

Rice becomes sugar - lots of it!

This is a fact that no nutritionist can deny: rice is chemically no different from sugar. One bowl of cooked rice is the caloric equal of 10 teaspoons of sugar. This does not matter whether it is white, brown or herbal rice. Brown rice is richer in fiber, some B vitamins and minerals but it is still the caloric equal of 10 teaspoons of sugar. To get the same 10 teaspoons of sugar, you need to consume lots of kangkong-10 bowls of it.

Rice is digested to become sugar.

Rice cannot be digested before it is thoroughly cooked. However, when thoroughly cooked, it becomes sugar and spikes circulating blood sugar within half an hour-almost as quickly as it would if you took a sugar candy. Rice is very low in the 'rainbow of anti-oxidants. '

This complete anti-oxidant rainbow is necessary for the effective and safe utilization of sugar. Fruits come with a sugar called fructose. However, they are not empty calories as the fruit is packed with a whole host of other nutrients that help its proper assimilation and digestion.

Rice has no fibre.

The fibre of the kangkong fills you up long before your blood sugar spikes. This is because the fibre bulks and fills up your stomach. Since white rice has no fibre, you end up eating lots of 'calorie dense' food before you get filled up. Brown rice has more fibre but still the same amount of sugar.

Rice is tasteless-sugar is sweet.

There is only so much that you can eat at one sitting. How many teaspoons of sugar can you eat before you feel like throwing up? Could you imagine eating 10 teaspoons of sugar in one seating?

Rice is always the main part of the meal.

While sugar may fill your dessert or sweeten your coffee, it will never be the main part of any meal. You could eat maybe two to three teaspoons of sugar at one meal. However, you could easily eat the equal value of

two to three

bowls (20-30 teaspoons) of sugar in one meal. I am always amused when I see someone eat sometimes five bowls of rice (equals 50 teaspoons of sugar) and then asks for tea tarik kurang manis!

There is no real 'built in' mechanism for us to prevent overeating of rice:

How much kangkong can you eat?

How much fried chicken can you eat?

How much steamed fish can you eat?

Think about that!

In one seating, you cannot take lots of chicken, fish or cucumber, but you can take lots of rice. Eating rice causes you to eat more salt. As rice is tasteless, you tend to consume more salt-another villain when it comes to high blood pressure. You tend to take more curry that has salt to help flavor rice. We also tend to consume more ketchup and soy sauce which are also rich in salt.

Eating rice causes you to drink less water.

The more rice you eat, the less water you will drink as there is no mechanism to prevent the overeating of rice. Rice, wheat and corn come hidden in our daily food. As rice is tasteless, it tends to end up in other foods that substitute rice like rice flour, noodles and bread. We tend to eat the hidden forms which still get digested into sugar.

Rice, even when cooked, is difficult to digest.

Can't eat raw rice? Try eating rice half cooked. Contrary to popular belief, rice is very difficult to digest. It is 'heavy stuff'. If you have problems with digestion, try skipping

rice for a few days. You will be amazed at how the problem will just go away.

Rice prevents the absorption of several vitamins and minerals.

Rice when taken in bulk will reduce the absorption of vital nutrients like zinc, iron and the B vitamins.

Are you a rice addict? Going riceless may not be easy but you can go rice less. Eating less rice could be lot easier than you think. Here are some strategies that you can pursue in your quest to eat less rice:

Eat less rice-cut your rice by half.

Barry Sears, author of the Zone Diet, advises 'eating rice like spice'. Instead, increase your fruits and vegetables. Take more lean meats and fish. You can even take more eggs and nuts.

Have 'riceless' meals.

Take no rice or wheat at say, breakfast. Go for eggs instead.

Go on 'riceless' days.

Go 'western' once a week.

Take no rice and breads for one day every week.

That can't be too difficult. Appreciate the richness of your food. Go for taste, colours and smells. Make eating a culinary delight. Enjoy your food in the original flavours.

Avoid the salt shaker or ketchup.

You will automatically eat less rice.

Eat your fruit dessert before (Yes! No printing error) your meals.

The fibre rich fruits will 'bulk up' in your stomach. Thus, you will eat less rice and more fruits.

It's your life. Decide what you want to eat! But eat less rice!

With deep pains (and tears in my eyes), I am sad to inform you that yesterday morning, one of my dear friend's elder son (Mr. Aditya Suresh Joshi), age 19, studying in 1st year engineering, died in Keshvani Hospital, Mumbai. He was admitted in

Reason 4 days back this boy had gone to Amravati (One of the district place located in State of Maharashtra) on study tour. After their study was over his classmates & teachers, all of them were standing on "Badnera"railway station to catch the train. "Badnera" is the name of the railway station for "Amravati "city.

As soon as they arrived on Badnera Railway station, many of them started taking pictures of their friends using

. One of them complained that, in his camera, he was not able to capture more number of friends in one frame. He was not able to catch the angle. Another boy suggested climbing on to the train boogie and take picture so that all of them can be accommodated in a single frame.

There was one goods wagon (all of them were oil tankers) train resting between 2 main railway lines.

Now how many of us are aware about this technological threats &

dangers? Honestly, Kumar Aditya and his father were not aware. His family was not aware. Our entire friend circle of more than 12,000, we were not aware. Now should we call ourselves as fully educated and fully knowledgeable people? Think of it.

A. Objectives

This write-up is intended to provide you with some guidelines on the steps to take if you are involved in a road accident. You may have injured yourself or another person or you may have damaged your vehicle or another person's vehicle.

B. What should you do at the accident site?

1. Be calm and do not panic. Neither should you take the law into your hands.

2. Take down the particulars of the vehicles involved in the accident:

a. registration numbers

b. make of the vehilce (year and model)

c. colour

3. Next, take down the particulars of the driver / passengers / witnesses:

a. Name

b. Address

c. Identity card number

d. Driving licence number

e. Telephone number (work and home)

4. If you have a camera with you, take some photographs of the accident site as well as the vehicles involved. Remember to keep the negatives in a safe place as photographs without their negatives may not be admissible as evidence in court.

C. At the police station

You should make a police report within 24 hours of the accident at the nearest police station. If you are injured, seek medical aid first and then you can make a police report at the police beat base in the hospital. In your report you must explain how the accident happened.

You can write out the report in Bahasa Malaysia and then sign at the bottom of the report. If you cannot write in Bahasa Malaysia you can explain to the police officer on duty who will write it down for you. Always ask a certified copy of the police report.

D. Dealing with the damage

1. Read your insurance policy carefully. You should report the accident to your insurance company within the period stated in your policy. Otherwise your insurance company will not entertain your claim.

2. Arrange for your vehicle to be towed to an authorised workshop. Here the damage to your vehicle will be assessed by assessors from the insurance company.

3. If you are injured, get medical attention immediately. Get a medical report and if possible copies of medical reports.

E. Keeping Records

You should keep a proper record of the following :-

- particulars in paragraph B above

- certified copies of police reports

- medical reports

- receipts for expenses incurred, e.g. medical fees, transport charges, rental of vehicle, etc.

- documents supporting your claim : photographs and negatives, repair bills, receipts, medical reports.

F. Claiming for damage to your vehicle

There are two ways of claiming for damages to your vehicle.

1. Claim from your insurance company.

Examine your insurance policy and note the excess clause in your policy. In order to claim from your own insurance company, your claim must exceed the excess clause. Then, the insurance company will pay the difference between your claim and excess amount. For example, if the excess clause is RM1,000.00 and your claim is RM800.00, you will not be able to claim from your own insurance company. But if your claim is for RM1,800.00, then you will be paid RM800.00. Always remember that when you claim from your insurance company, you will lose your no-claim bonus

2. Claim from the other party's insurance company

You can also claim from the other party's insurance company. If you decide to do so, it is preferable to engage a lawyer.

G. Engaging a lawyer

If you want to file a claim, you should engage a lawyer. Remember, you have a right to choose your own lawyer. So, do not be influenced by people who pester you to accept the services of lawyers whom they represent. Your lawyer will ask you to sign a warrant to act. This is a document appointing him/her as your lawyer and authorising the lawyer to act on your behalf.

H. What will your lawyer do?

Your lawyer will :-

- take down a full statement from you and examine all the documents that you have, consider the evidence, and explain to you the types and the quantum of claims that you may be granted

- write letters to the police station for copies of the police reports as well as the sketch map of the accident site

- if you have not obtained the medical reports, the lawyer will write to the hospital for the medical reports

- write to the insurance company concerned for the compensation

- if no adequate compensation can be obtained, the lawyer will file a civil suit, prepare the documents and get ready for trial. Even at this stage, parties are free to arrive at a settlement.

I. What can you claim?

An injured person can claim :-

a) Special damages

These are claims for specific expenses e.g. transport, repairs to vehicles, hiring another vehicle, medical expenses. Generally, special damages deal with specific monetary expenses, incurred by the claimant as a result of the accident.

b) General damages

These are compensations for pain and suffering as a result of injuries caused to a person

J. If the matter goes to trial

If the matter goes to trial, then the Court will have to decide the issues of :-

(a) Liability - Who is responsible for causing the accident?

(b) Quantum - How much should the injured party receive?

If the defendant is fully responsible for the accident, he will be said to be 100% liable.

There may also be instances when the claimant is also partly responsible for the accident. In such a case, the plaintiff is said to be contributorily negligent. In this case the Court will assess the degree of the claimant's responsibility in percentage terms in causing the accident and reduce the quantum accordingly. Thus, if the Court finds that the claimant is 50% liable, then the Court will reduce the quantum by 50%.

K. Collecting the money

The cheque will issued by the insurance company in your name and will be forwarded to your lawyer. Your lawyer will then inform you to come to his office to collect the cheque.

L. ONE FINAL WARNING!

Remember you have a right to choose your own lawyer. Do not be forced into choosing a lawyer by touts.

I am using SMART every day from Cheras into SMART, at the entry, almost every day at 830 am, it is packed, after toll, basically like ten lanes try to squeeze into one lane. There is one guy from SMART start at the initial entry of the SMART, but not look very 'smart', basically not doing much..

Suggestion:

1. Put some barriar after toll to make all cars follow queue.

2. That person stand there, co-ordinate the traffic, at least stop one side and let another side go alternatively.

The sad thing is when after the toll stuck in the jam and when look at the Iron River road cars is smoother then me..which paid RM2..!! piss..

Tax rates for non-resident individuals

Employment income

Your employment income is taxed at 15% or resident rate,

whichever gives rise to a higher tax amount.

How about the withholding tax?

Payment for services rendered

Where payment is made to a non-resident company for the installation of equipment,

technical support services, training, consultancy or other services provided

by the non-resident company, withholding tax is applicable on the service fees

attributable to work done in Singapore.

If the payer pays for monthly allowance of the non-resident company's employees who

are sent to Singapore to perform the services, withholding tax is applicable on

the allowance because the monthly allowance is actually additional service fees paid

to the non-resident company.

However, if the non-resident company provides the services via electronic means

overseas (e.g. internet presentation, email and telephone) without sending staff to

Singapore, the services are rendered outside Singapore and withholding tax is

not applicable.

Look at this..it seem like if stay less then 183 days, and if the payment already deduct the withholding tax, there is no tax issue..

Q5. My consultant is engaged by me for a period of 45 days. I have deducted 15% tax from the fee paid to him. Does he need to file the tax form issued to him?

As his physical stay in Singapore is less than 183 days, he will be treated as a non-resident for tax purposes. If he is only in receipt of such fee for the year, he does not need to file the tax form as you have deducted 15% withholding tax. If he has received a tax form / tax bill, please forward the Confirmation of Payment for our review.

Q6. I engage a non-resident professional to work for 5 months in Singapore. His home country has a tax treaty with Singapore. Do I still need to withhold tax on the payment made to him?

Whether you need to withhold tax would depend on whether the visiting professional needs to pay tax in Singapore under the provisions of the tax treaty. For example, under the tax treaty between Singapore and United Kingdom, the income derived by the non-resident professional from Singapore will be tax exempt provided:

a. He does not have a fixed base regularly available to him in Singapore for the purpose of performing his activities; or

b. He is not present in Singapore for not more than 183 days in any period of 12 months commencing or ending in the fiscal year concerned

Example 1

If he (with no fixed base in Singapore) is in Singapore for a 5-month engagement in year 2008, his income derived during that period will be tax-exempt for Year of Assessment (YA) 2009 (See Chart 1).

I like the Penang model, which is I think for many years, at least 20 years, you can see in gurney even at night of 9pm, there is still someone collecting official parking fees, with the official receipts.

Why not KL mayor study the Penang model, of course if KL the parking fees will not be the few cents like in Penang, and I believe with higher parking rate, and the number of cars in KL, it should be a sustainable model to hire someone to do this..

7 Phone Interview Tips That'll Make You Shine

1. Use a landline.You don't want to risk having problems with cell phone service. It is irritating for employers to conduct interviews if the call breaks up frequently or is dropped completely. If you don't have a land line at home, just make sure you are in an area with as much cell phone service as possible. Do what you can so the process runs as smooth as possible.

2. Keep your materials handy. In fact, lay everything out in front of you. This includes your resume, notes about your career objective (even if it isn't included in your original cover letter it's a good idea to have this out depending on the questions he will ask you), a pen and pad of paper for note-taking and anything else you think may be helpful during your interview. Because you won't have to schlep into an office, you can have anything out in front of you to aid with your success.

3. Steer clear of distractions. Find a quiet place to interview and stay there! There shouldn't be any noise in the background to distract you or your potential employer. However, it is understandable that this can be tricky if you have young children at home who need your attention. When you set up your interview appointment, try to schedule it for as precise a time or window as possible. That way, you are able to avoid possible distractions (ex.: your phone interview is between 4 and 4:30, so no one can have company over during that time, the kids are fed and occupied or a sitter will watch them, if need be.)

4. Speak slowly and clearly. When you speak to people face-to-face, you are able to understand what they are saying more clearly because you can see their mouth move. I thought get away from Proton, will not have the quality issues, but still the same, there are some minor quality issues as well even thought with Japanese car which assembled here locally. This is the second time, first time already change the VSA knob.

1. Driver door hander - very difficult to open, like stuck, need to pull harder

2. Bonnet paint peeled, very small piece

3.Petrol smell in the morning - after about 1 km, on the air con, got the petrol smell.

> Increase the number of public transport users to 25% by end of 2012 from the present 16%.
